Police Report.
Mary Cooper, a disciple of Xantippe, made her appearance, charged with diunken, riotous, and disorderly behaviour. Having imbibed sundry potations of that destroyer of good order, rum, she must needs display her prowess, by going to the house of a peaceful neighbour, and, without the least provocation, challenging her to fight. The latter finding remonstrance useless, was at last necessitated to fetoh a constable. Nothing daunted, however, the Amazon attempted to thrash him, but she was after some difficulty lodged in the watch house, minus three parts of her gown. Women, who thus disgrace their sex, richly deserve being made an example of; which, being the opinion of the Bench, Mary was sent to the third class of the factory for two months.
